Why do I need trip protection?

Trip insurance is always optional, and we never want to pressure anyone, but we do want to educate why we offer it and give you full disclosure before you book your trip so you understand what the insurance covers and why we recommend it. We can show you what the package looks like with our most popular insurance added, and it can be removed if you truly end up not wanting it.

Here is a quick synopsis and please let us know if you have any questions as we think there is such wisdom in understanding what you are purchasing or declining.

The initial trip insurance we are offering has a cancel for any reason coverage. The most requested and popular insurance includes future travel credit if you have to completely cancel. This gives you 13 months from the original trip date to use any travel credit you have. We do have a higher priced option that has cancel for any reason with cash back - so if you want to know more, let us know.

Here are just a few reasons why we suggest you have travel insurance.

  • Hurricane season is from the end of May thru the end of Nov. If the weather was looking iffy and a hurricane was remotely in the area, you could change or cancel your reservation up until right before travel.

  • When traveling outside the USA, your personal health insurance usually will not cover if you have any medical needs. For over 23 years, we have had people use the insurance for very minor things like cuts / stitches, and broken bones, all the way to life-threatening accidents that happen when someone was during their cruise while on an excursion.

  • Life happens.....we never think we will cancel or change reservations, but if COVID taught us anything, the unexpected can happen. We always say, if a family member or close friend suddenly passes away, you could cancel or change your trip up until the night before you go if needed, or fly home early from a trip if needed for any reason if it is medical or emergency.

  • Traveling with kids: We hope that all is well during travel - but if one of your kids was sick or injured, what a comfort to know you had not only us to help, but the insurance to cover. Kids can be accident prone and that is just a reality.

  • Trip penalties: Once you place money down, airline tickets are non-refundable and as you get closer to your travel dates - if you had to cancel or change the trip, there could be other penalties where you could lose most or all your funds. (terms and conditions available upon request)

  • Cruising: If you suffer a medical emergency while on board *after declining* travel insurance and the cruise line offloads the passenger at the next port aka another country, you will then be 100% responsible for your medical expenses in that country. For example, if the cruise line medical team feels like you need additional care, they will make the decision to leave you in the medical hands of whatever country is at their next stop. Most of the time, if you have US medical insurance, it will not cover outside the US.

We will always do our best to provide you with the proper information so you can make the decision that is best for your upcoming trip. We believe your trip is an investment, and we appreciate having the opportunity to help care for that investment.
